Chapter 11 - Capture
Perhaps the most striking image in the whole exhibition is the commercial postcard, reproduced here of the Brussels alongside a quay evidently somewhere on the continent, presumably on 23rd June 1916, the morning after its capture.
But where was this photograph taken, and by whom, and why, and who are all those people on the quayside, and where was Fryatt among all of this? The exhibition analyses this photograph and explores what it can tell us about the whole Fryatt story.
The Brussels in captivity - image from a commercial postcard courtesy of the collection of Mark P. Baker.
